Collane con Passione
Joanne Sorensen is an Australian jewellery designer and the founder of Collane con Passione, a jewellery practice devoted to distinctive long necklaces, sculptural statement pieces and individually composed works.
Working from her studio in Queensland, Joanne creates necklaces characterised by scale, proportion, colour and movement. Her designs bring together pearls, natural gemstones, glass beads and vintage elements.
She uses traditional rosary-style hand-linking to create fluid, articulated pieces that balance restraint with presence.
Before establishing Collane con Passione, Joanne spent her professional career in writing and communication. Jewellery design became a new form of creative expression, bringing the same attention to composition, detail and meaning to a different medium.
Joanne established Collane con Passione as an independent creative practice. Her Italian heritage and connection to Far North Queensland inform her visual sensibility without defining the work.
Her label takes its name from the Italian for “necklaces with passion”, reflecting both her heritage and personal connection to the work.
Extra-long necklaces are a defining part of Joanne’s work. Designed to be worn at full length, doubled or loosely knotted, they offer different ways of wearing a single piece.
Alongside these signature lengths, she creates shorter statement necklaces, sculptural compositions and individual works that stand apart.
Her approach is guided by an instinct for colour, proportion and the relationship between materials. Glass, pearls, crystals, gemstones and occasional vintage elements are selected and brought together with an eye for balance, contrast and movement.
Each necklace develops through the process of making. Some compositions are restrained; others are more expressive. What matters is that every element has its place and the finished piece has a character of its own.
Joanne designs for women who know what they like and dress accordingly. Women who appreciate individuality, thoughtful design and jewellery that becomes part of their personal style, rather than defining it.
